Logan Hayungs is a passionate trumpet performer and music educator, recently earning his Bachelor of Music degree from James Madison University. With a dedication to both performance and teaching, Logan has contributed to music programs in South Carolina and Virginia and performed at prestigious venues such as Lucas Oil Stadium, the Alamodome, Von Braun Center, Greater Richmond Convention Center, and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
At JMU, Logan was deeply involved in a diverse range of ensembles, including the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Marching Royal Dukes, and the world-renowned JMU Brass Band. As a standout musician, he served as principal trumpet in the Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, and Concert Band, while holding a front-row cornet position with the Brass Band since his junior year. Logan also had the privilege of participating in masterclasses and special performances led by renowned composers such as Omar Thomas, Michael Markowski, John Mackey, and Frank Ticheli.
Before attending JMU, Logan graduated with an advanced diploma from Stafford High School, where he immersed himself in the school's musical community. He performed with every ensemble, including Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble, and earned high placements in solo and ensemble competitions, as well as All-County and All-District honor bands. Logan served as brass captain of the Stafford High Marching Band during his senior year and as baritone section leader as a junior.
Logan’s love for the marching arts led him to perform with the Jersey Surf World Class Drum and Bugle Corps during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. In 2019, he was honored to serve as a lead player and soloist. Following his time with Jersey Surf, he began sharing his expertise as a music and visual technician for White Knoll High School in Lexington, SC, and Harrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, VA. He aspires to continue teaching and advancing to the DCI instructional level.
In 2025, Logan plans to pursue a Master’s degree in trumpet performance, aiming to further refine his craft as both a performer and educator. His ultimate goal is to become a college professor and internationally recognized trumpet artist. Logan’s primary teachers include Steven Patterson, Eddie Steenstra, Chris Carrillo, and John Abbracciamento.
